Our Philosophy

Our Misson is to provide a safe space for all women through holistic care in a non-judgemental community. Lou’s Place aims to build trusting relationships with women providing person centred and innovative program support to enhance their individual wellbeing.

  • We believe women in need benefit most from a safe, welcoming environment that feels like a good home.

  • We believe creating a safe place is fundamental to establishing trust, and trust is essential to rebuilding lives.

  • We meet the women who visit us at their point of need. Since each woman is in a different place and proceeds at a different rate, we don't offer a specific or single service for any one person, but rather every woman receives support specific to her individual need.

  • We promote women's autonomy, dignity, growth and self-worth through acceptance and respect.

Our Vision

Our vision is to contribute to a world where all women experience safety, support, and are empowered to live their life and realise their inherent value and worth.

Our Values

Non-judgemental:  At Lou’s, we welcome all women.  We accept and respect women whatever their circumstances. We believe in diversity and inclusivity, and we see the value inherent in each woman. We work to ensure that everyone feels valued and included.

Caring: We show genuine compassion and empathy in our interactions and services. We cultivate a home-like atmosphere that fosters trust and safety. We prioritise creating an environment where women feel safe.

Woman led:  We are driven by the needs of the women we support. We act as their advocates aiming to amplify their voices for the growth and healing of each woman, and for the sector at large.

Independent: Lou’s Place is guided by its values. We are flexible and responsive to the unique and changing needs of each woman.  We pride ourselves on ensuring the priorities of the women come first. We seek innovative solutions to better support and empower women.

“Lou's Place is one of a kind. It is the only place I don’t feel judged and it has supported me to keep up the fight for a lot of things. They have helped me so much. They have made such a massive positive difference to me personally, emotionally and physically."
