Values

Dignity

Dignity expresses the intrinsic worth belonging to all human beings.  At Lou’s Place all women will be treated with respect and a non-judgemental attitude in keeping with their dignity, no matter what the circumstances of their lives. Through this approach, trust may evolve between the clients and all who work there.

Empowerment

To be empowered is to have the skills and knowledge that allow a person to overcome obstacles in life. Lou’s Place believes in empowering clients by assisting them in their personal growth and supporting their efforts to achieve self sufficiency and self determination.

Accountability

We possess a strong sense of accountability to the people that we serve and as such will act as advocates for the women of Lou’s Place, ensuring their rights are respected and, where possible their needs met.  We also are accountable to our donors, staff, volunteers and supporters; accordingly, we embrace transparent processes, documentation and two way communication.  Accountability for quality of service will be maintained by networking in the area and through researching the latest approaches for service delivery.

Community Engagement

We believe that dignity, empowerment and trust are fostered when services are provided in ways that integrate the centre into the community in which it is based.   Lou’s Place will emphasise community leadership and participation by networking within the local neighbourhood and employing a wide range of volunteers and pro bono professional services.

Safety

Dignity, empowerment and trust require a foundation of safety.  Lou’s Place will create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment that promotes our clients’ personal growth and self worth.
